Studio Alex Meitlis, founded in 1993, has established itself as one of the leading Israeli architecture and interior design studios. Alongside local recognition, the studio also established itself in the international market with iconic projects, such as the Ottolenghi delis and Nopi restaurant in London, awarded by Wallpaper magazine for the best new restaurant in 2012.

The work in the studio ranges from private high-end residential projects to public buildings and spaces, these include hotels, restaurants, offices, showrooms, exhibits, and retail in Israel and abroad. The studio’s approach is to provide a design package, in other words, a ‘Total Design’, where architecture, interior, industrial and graphic design come together to form a complete concept and outcome. In the process design, every detail count, every material is important.

Collaborating with artists has always been a major part of our studio’s work. Five years ago, the artist Ivo Bisignano joined our studio. The cooperation with Ivo gave birth not only to new conceptual ideas but also to new possibilities of providing complete design solutions that include design, art, and branding, tailored to a specific project. In 2014, Alex Meitlis established the Alex Meitlis showroom and studio in Shoreditch, London, to further expend his worldwide operation. Our recent projects include Hotel Calimala, a boutique hotel in Florence, the café chain Matto in NYC, the new Ottolenghi restaurant, Rovi, in London, and other commercial and residential projects.

The ‘FEAST’ collection is a leap forward into the world of lifestyle for Yotam Ottolenghi after opening his first eponymous delicatessen in London in 2002. Over nearly two decades, Ottolenghi has become a pioneer in what we know today as contemporary Middle Eastern cuisine, with his restaurants and cookbooks considered a perennial source of inspiration internationally.

Encompassing 100 unique pieces, the expressive new tableware collection represents everything the British-Israeli chef stands for, designed with the intention of coming together in celebration of food, family and friendship. Featuring a playful assemblage of colourful plates, bowls, cups, glasses, cutlery and serving stands, the expansion into tableware is a natural next step for the acclaimed culinary artist renowned for his contemporary Middle-Eastern cooking, with Serax as proud partners.

The visionary behind FEAST is Ivo Bisignano, the artist responsible for all of Ottolenghi’s creative graphics. Distinguished by two main motifs, the range is decorated with forms of an impulsive ‘O’-shaped brushstroke for ‘Ottolenghi’ and abstract vegetable shapes as a nod to the food group most championed by the chef. The result is a bold, honest and spirited collection, full of contrasting colour combinations for a range as vibrant as Ottolenghi’s dishes.

Having opened in 2017, Baranowitz Goldberg partners Sigal and Irene have been collaborating as colleagues in many different commercial design projects. After a few years of successful joint work, the two architects established their own practice, paving a new way based around their diverse expertise.

Irene Sigal’s comprehensive experience in different fields of design allow the studio’s work to vary and include all scales. Whether it be a product or a building, creating a story that will ignite the creative process is the leading principle of their work.

The studio’s projects are characterized with a playful balance between art and design while adhering to strict yet poetic principles of proportion, and a true integration between conceptual thought and functionalism.

When created within a strong conceptual framework, creativity can turn to unpredictable yet coherent directions. The studio’s goal is to allow each project to pave its way toward a unique architectural interpretation.
